  1. Fill in the spirals in the body tube.
  2. Coat the nose cones with a sanding sealer to remove the grain of the wood.
  3. Coat the inside surfaces of the tubes with thin CA. Sand the motor mount tubes until the motors fit.
  4. Paint scheme:

  • Apply a coat of clear gloss coat to protect the decals.
  • Step 24: Flying

    1. Insert recovery wadding and loosely pack the sustainer parachute.
    2. Install the nose cone.
    3. Select a motor according to the most up-to-date recommended motor list available at http://www.cosmodromerocketry.com
    4. Disposable motors:
      1. Build up a thrust ring on the aft end of the motor(s) using 1/2" masking tape. Wrap tape around the motor(s) until it is at least as thick as the motor mount tube.
    5. Reloadable motors:
      1. Assemble the motor according to the manufacturer's instructions.
      2. The thrust ring is built into the aft closure of the motor, no tape ring is needed.
    6. Install the motor into the motor mount tube.
    7. Slide the washer over the engine retainer.
    8. Thread the nut on the engine retainer and tighten against the motor(s).
    9. Install the igniter according to the manufacturer's instructions.
